Moody Fall 2008 Family Update

Hello dear friends!

Thank you for checking us out again. Fall is a busy time of year for us, as it probably is for you. Laura Jane started pre-school again in September. She is going to the same place she went last year, although she is going 3 mornings a week instead of 2. She loves her new teacher and two of her classmates are the same from last year. She keeps us on our toes with her verbal skills and delights our days with princesses, singing and dancing. The most precious time is seeing Laura Jane and Jeremiah increasingly interact with each other. He considers the floor his domain and if she happens to be laying on it, Jeremiah will come and try to "wrestle" her. It is sweet when they are both giggling. Below this text, you will find some cute pictures of them both. Also, we've put up a video of Jeremiah and all of his skills to date. Aunt Rachel will be glad to finally witness Jeremiah's happy eating, and then you can see JJ start taking his first steps. After that, check out Jeremiah's dancing skills and finally, he gets to "open" his first - 1st - birthday present from La-La and Pop.

Josh has just finished preaching his 3 parts of a marriage series at our church. You can find all of his sermons online at www.ShelterRockChurch.com and I'm sure you'll find some nuggets of wisdom (this is Kim writing). Thankfully, he gets to take 3 vacation days this week because his schedule has been so hectic of late. Kim is enjoying the good things in life now: marriage, family, friends, church. God has been faithful to us through the ups and the downs and Kim now considers her life on the "up"-side. She is grateful for the blessings in her daily routine.

Thank you for your constant love and support of our family. It is because of friends and family like you that we are so rich in life.

The Moody Update - Summer 2008

We apologize for the tardiness of this family update. Our lives have been quite busy in 2008. We have just returned from a vacation to San Francisco (w/o kids) and we are back in the throes of Long Island life. We had a great time in San Fran, as this picture of us at the Golden Gate Bridge attests. We biked across it on a rather foggy day, but we also had a few beautiful days together. We enjoyed hiking in Muir Woods and driving along the coast to a small winery. It was renewing for our marriage to have some time without having to chase after Laura Jane and Jeremiah. We let Josh's parents do that for four days, and now we are adjusting back to "real" life again.
A quick update on the kids: Jeremiah, our whopper-of-an-8-month-old, continues to display a delightful personality. He is desperately trying to crawl right now. He adores balls, his big sister, and anything he can put in his mouth (thankfully it appears that he doesn't have any food allergies - maybe nuts but it will be awhile until we know for sure.) Check out his cute pictures below! Laura Jane keeps us on our toes. She astonishes us everyday with her verbal skills. Just yesterday she came up to Kim and said, "Mommy, I have something TRULY (pronounced "Twuwy") important to tell you." She is very dramatic and she loves to laugh, run, swim and read books. The pics below reveal what a beautiful little girl she is becoming.
Kim is looking forward to spending time with Laura Jane at the beach for a few days (just girls!) and to our family vacation at a lakehouse in New Hampshire at the end of July. The days are filled with many joys and challenges for Kim now, and she is very thankful for the warm weather, the playground, and the fact that Josh is so helpful.
Josh is hitting his stride where his job is concerned. Turning 30 must have its advantages! Kim surprised Josh on his birthday with a night away at a lakehouse where he caught over 30 fish, which made up in taste what they lacked in size! (See the pic below.) Then Kim had planned a surprise party for Josh with some church friends and we all had a great time. Josh was totally surprised, as he was not expecting anything after the getaway. To those of you who know how difficult it is to truly surprise Josh, Kim has decided it will be another 30 years before she plans another one. The church community has experienced some tragic hardships recently, and Josh has been able to care for those who are hurting. We are so glad to be part of a healthy, thriving church, through which God is drawing people to Jesus! We are thankful that God has blessed us with Shelter Rock Church (check out the website for Josh's sermons: http://www.shelterrockchurch.com/).
Although there are many things that we would love to tell you about in detail, these will have to do for now. We are grateful for your friendships and support!
Love,
The Moodys

The first 2008 Moody Update

LAURA JANE - She is officially a big girl now--we kicked off potty training this past Friday with a full-fledged Minnie Mouse Potty Party and she has done very well since. She LOVES her big girl undies and is learning to "listen" to her body. She made us howl with laughter when, after an "accident" in her second day of using the potty, she promptly went to her room and changed pants. When she came to report that she had wet herself, I asked what she had done with the wet undies and she said, "I put them in the hampster (hamper)." Hilarious! There are some cute pics of her below this post and this pic here is of Minnie and LJ.

JEREMIAH - He is officially a big boy - all 17 lbs of him - at 3 months, nonetheless! The doctor said that he is in the 95th percentile for height and weight. He expects JJ to grow pretty tall. Jeremiah's disposition is so sweet! He is sleeping through the night (11pm-7am) consistently and "talking" up a storm! He gives out smiles freely and loves to bat at his hanging toys. He also loves his big sister and the TV.

JOSH - He is enjoying being a pastor, especially when he gets to spend time with people or preach. Sometimes the job as Campus Pastor feels more like his title should be, "Teaching Custodian." He spoke last week (1/27) and it was very well received. If you want to catch his sermon, look on the church website http://www.shelterrockchurch.com/. He is busy most days either with his job or with being a wonderful father and husband, (Kim's words - REALLY! :) ), and is holding his breath for the spring striped bass run. Josh feels at home again living so near to the ocean.

KIM - I am learning to be content in all circumstances (this is my big prayer for the year)! It is challenging most days with two kids, a household to run, and working a few hours on the church bulletin each week. I love getting to women's Bible study on Wednesday and church on Sundays. The women in the church are becoming good friends.

You sports fans will find this noteworthy: Josh and Kim are a lucky charm for local professional teams. After we had both moved to Baltimore, the Ravens won their first Super Bowl (2001). When we moved to Boston, the Patriots won 2 Super Bowls and the Red Sox won the World Series (2004). Now we move to New York, and the Giants take down the Patriots' dynasty for a Super Bowl championship. Do you want us in your city? :)

We thank you for your continued prayer and support in our lives!
