The Moody Update - Summer 2008

We apologize for the tardiness of this family update. Our lives have been quite busy in 2008. We have just returned from a vacation to San Francisco (w/o kids) and we are back in the throes of Long Island life. We had a great time in San Fran, as this picture of us at the Golden Gate Bridge attests. We biked across it on a rather foggy day, but we also had a few beautiful days together. We enjoyed hiking in Muir Woods and driving along the coast to a small winery. It was renewing for our marriage to have some time without having to chase after Laura Jane and Jeremiah. We let Josh's parents do that for four days, and now we are adjusting back to "real" life again.
A quick update on the kids: Jeremiah, our whopper-of-an-8-month-old, continues to display a delightful personality. He is desperately trying to crawl right now. He adores balls, his big sister, and anything he can put in his mouth (thankfully it appears that he doesn't have any food allergies - maybe nuts but it will be awhile until we know for sure.) Check out his cute pictures below! Laura Jane keeps us on our toes. She astonishes us everyday with her verbal skills. Just yesterday she came up to Kim and said, "Mommy, I have something TRULY (pronounced "Twuwy") important to tell you." She is very dramatic and she loves to laugh, run, swim and read books. The pics below reveal what a beautiful little girl she is becoming.
Kim is looking forward to spending time with Laura Jane at the beach for a few days (just girls!) and to our family vacation at a lakehouse in New Hampshire at the end of July. The days are filled with many joys and challenges for Kim now, and she is very thankful for the warm weather, the playground, and the fact that Josh is so helpful.
Josh is hitting his stride where his job is concerned. Turning 30 must have its advantages! Kim surprised Josh on his birthday with a night away at a lakehouse where he caught over 30 fish, which made up in taste what they lacked in size! (See the pic below.) Then Kim had planned a surprise party for Josh with some church friends and we all had a great time. Josh was totally surprised, as he was not expecting anything after the getaway. To those of you who know how difficult it is to truly surprise Josh, Kim has decided it will be another 30 years before she plans another one. The church community has experienced some tragic hardships recently, and Josh has been able to care for those who are hurting. We are so glad to be part of a healthy, thriving church, through which God is drawing people to Jesus! We are thankful that God has blessed us with Shelter Rock Church (check out the website for Josh's sermons: http://www.shelterrockchurch.com/).
Although there are many things that we would love to tell you about in detail, these will have to do for now. We are grateful for your friendships and support!
Love,
The Moodys
